Today only.......Free Mustache Rides!!!

Last week, some ignorant rednecks pulled their trucks and trailers in next to us.  They showed up drunk, so watching them park 2 trucks and a trailer in one site was very entertaining!  Gotta love the screaming wife/girlfriend, the wailing power steering pump from a neglected 1980's Chevy, and the shirtless men walking around like they know what they're doing.  In addition, they had their 4 man-sized dogs with them.  Three of them were tied up during their stay, but I had to chase the 4th one out of our site several times during the night.

Just makes boondockin' in the middle of nowhere all that much better!

This is sad, we have two Basset Hounds who are like our children because we can't have children. If another dog came into our campsite and attacked one of our dogs (kids) I don't know what I would do. This weekend was our dogs first camping trip and it was great, but I agree that some people don't dogs if they don't plan to take care of them.

Imagine what happens when people like this start reproducing...

You get America as we know it today.

That's a heck of a dog story.  I'm surprised you didn't leave.... I would have, if the camp host didn't move them or kick them out on that very first day.  I also would have gone over the host's head and contacted the Ranger Station, or whom ever else had jurisdiction over the park.  I don't drive all that way, burn that much fuel, and spend that much money, to sit and listen to some idiot's dogs.

Like others here, we don't bring our dog.  We'd love to, and she loves going, and we hate leaving her.  But, we like to hike, and go do things, and if we were to bring her, we'd be held hostage and have to just sit there in camp every day and night.  It's a really bummer, but "they're" not allowed anywhere, have to be tied up and/or on a leash at all times, and that's just not us.

Now that you got the camping trip from hell out of the way, it should be smooth sailing from here on in.  We need people like you camping, so stand up for your right to have a nice experience and a nice campground to do it in!!  If all the good people say, "Ah, screw it. I'm just never coming back."  The bad guys win, and the whole thing just circles the drain.  I say....make the bad guys miserable as hell, and maybe they'll stay home and screw up their own neighborhood.

Calling animal control was the right decision and should have been done the first day.

+1 to this

Thanks. We didn't leave for that very reason, plus the dogs needed people to stand up for them. We have camped there several times before and have always had wonderful cgh's until this time, hope this is not a bad sign for the future. It was worth it just to see them being fined and packing up and leaving ASAP. I suspect that if they hadn't left when they did they would have soon been escorted out. We are not new to camping but new to camping with dogs and are swiftly learning that this is an entirely new ballgame. Hopefully it will be more enjoyable in the future. Of course Muffin had fun this time! Smile

It really bothers me when people treat their dogs like that.  Our Weimer has been on all but one outing this year and is never left alone. And I agree it is bad when you do you best to play by the rules and everytime you go for a walk around the CG you're greeted at least once by an unleashed/untied dog. The best that I've seem though is a family w/3 larger dogs loose at the site but they tried to contain them with a wireless fence system. It didn't work bad until the electric went out.
